01 · THE PROBLEM WE STARTED WITH
A thirty-year-old workflow held together by goodwill
Crew staffing in business aviation has been the same job for thirty years, run through spreadsheets, WhatsApp threads, forwarded résumés and screenshots of certificates, with a flight department head sitting at the centre of it all, thumb on a contact list, calling around at 6am because a pilot has called out the night before. It works because aviation people are tireless about making bad systems work. It shouldn't have to be that way.
We built Velari because nobody else was going to. Not the brokers, because the brokers want the trip. Not the legacy schedulers, because the legacy schedulers are really just spreadsheets with a logo. Operators needed something built around how operators actually run, by people who have flown the missions and hired the crews.
02 · WHO WE ARE
Pilots, aviation experts, and recruitment specialists, on the same team
Velari was founded by pilots, aviation experts and recruitment specialists, with a combined bench that has logged hours on type, signed contracts on placements, and sat on both sides of the call when a trip needed crew in the next twelve hours. That experience is important, because aviation is small and unforgiving, and the people who build for it have to know the difference between a current medical and a recently lapsed one, what a high-minimum captain actually costs, and why a type rating without recent currency is a hire you regret.

03 · WHAT WE BUILT
The full hire cycle, inside one app
Velari is a two-sided marketplace on iOS and Android, with the full hire cycle running inside one app. Operators plan a trip, set a day rate, and our matching engine ranks every credentialed pilot and flight attendant by type rating, currency, day rate and proximity to the departure airport. Crew apply at their own rate, the operator hires inside the app, and after the trip closes the expenses get submitted and reconciled before Velari issues one Net-30 invoice covering crew pay and our placement fee. No phone calls. No paperwork chasing. No surprise charges.
04 · WHAT WE STAND FOR
FAA-grade discipline, applied to software.
Aviation operates under FAA oversight, and Velari operates to the same standard, with identity, documentation and transactions all on the record. Every pilot and flight attendant uploads their certificates, current medical, type ratings and recurrent training before they ever appear in a search, and we check every document line by line, running a QC review with an in-house pilot before a crew profile goes live.
Velari is free for pilots and flight attendants, with the placement fee paid by the operator who hires. We are not a charter broker and never will be. We do not sell passenger seats, we do not touch your trip revenue, and we do not compete with you for the flight. Velari supplies the crew. You bring the trips.
Everything on the platform is encrypted by default, with AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, and least-privilege access on every credential, every record and every transaction.
05 · WHERE WE'RE GOING
Crew staffing, done properly, and only crew staffing.(For the moment)
Velari starts with where the problem is sharpest, and where the people who built this company have spent their careers. We are scaling deliberately. U.S. operators first, U.S. crew first, building a platform that earns trust one trip at a time.
What we will not do is what most aviation tech does, which is sprawl into adjacent businesses and end up doing all of them badly. Velari is a crew staffing marketplace, and we intend to be the best one.
